The Project Admin Permission Feature is an effective way to grant Project Managers exclusive control over project data and timelines. The Properties Admin Permission allows you to grant specific users the ability to edit workspace properties & database properties.
Using these permissions together, specific users can be given broad permission to manage projects without having to be a company admin or workspace admin.
How does it work:
A user with the Project Admin Permission has the ability to make changes to the Tasks & Milestones, including the ability to:
- Create, Modify, or Delete tasks and milestones in the Project Management feature
- Assign or Re-assign tasks and milestones
- Adjust project timelines by updating task or milestone due dates
A user with Properties Admin Permission has the ability to:
- Edit workspace properties
- Create a database
- Add & Edit database fields
- Import and export data from the database
- Copy, Move, Delete a database
User Experience:
Users will notice the following changes if
- Workspace Administrators will always have the Project Admin & Project Admin permission ON
- Users without Project Admin are limited to making comments or adding themselves as a CC on existing tasks
- We've released Project Admin Permission ON as a default for all customers, this ensures that existing customers are not losing any functionality. Workspace Admin can edit these permissions at the workspace level
- Only users who are assigned to tasks will be able to change a task status, attach and relate files, or log time
- Users without Properties Admin are limited in a database to adding, editing, deleting, or subscribing to a record
- We've released Properties Admin Permission OFF for all users, this means that workspace admin will need to enable this for any user that needs to edit database properties
- Default workspace permissions can be set to include or remove either of these permissions for newly added users
**When the Project Admin & Properties Admin permissions are applied the change is instantaneous and applies only to the workspace where the permissions are set**
Expected Behavior:
Workspace admin enables a user's Project Admin Permission.

Benefits of using this feature:
Your company will benefit from the Project Admin & Properties Admin Features if you meet any of the following:
- You have complex, detailed project plans with strict timelines
- You work with teams of users that demand checks and balances
- Request and/or approval procedures exist when projects are changed
- Your success metrics rely on how often you complete tasks on time
- Sensitive or proprietary data is stored within your databases
Identify Which Users Will Need the Project Admin Permission:
Workspace Administrators will automatically have the permission and the ability to edit project plans. By default Project Admin is on for all users, you can change this in your company settings. The process of restricting the Project Admin permission from other users is a manual one, so it is important to identify which users will need the permission removed ahead of time.
We recommend making a list of users and using it to quickly assign and check off users after they’ve been given the permission. You may decide to work with a Company Administrator to make user permission changes in bulk to save time.
