Converting a member from external to internal

An external member of a workspace can be converted into an internal member. External members can only be converted to internal members from within a workspace that they are a member of. They cannot be converted from the External Members tab in Company Setup. To change an external member to an internal one:

  1. Navigate to the People tab in a workspace
  2. Click on Permissions
  3. Locate the member in the directory and check the box furthest on the right to highlight the external member(s) you wish to convert
  4. Select More > Make Internal


Because internal members are at the company level and can have access to internal use only information, only system administrators are able to make this change. Only external members can be converted into internal members. If you wish to convert internal members into an external members, they will need to be removed as internal members at the company level and re-added as external members on the workspace level.
